It is quite a conundrum to crave something, yet feel an opposition towards it. In a time where lists and declarations are made for the new year, change is on the horizon. While change is something that I crave, I am not always eager to accept it. With changes come consequences, new parameters, and a new-ness that doesn’t always favor my static tendencies. For years this process has been described symbolically as a shedding, awakening or a rebirth. There are some common archetypes, that if studied can help oneself prepare for what it is to come. However, something has been ringing in my ears since my uni days. When we studied war, our professor told us that winners of wars have said that they did not always win by a perfectly executed plan A or plan B. They had a plan A and B, however, their ability to improvise and adapt to what came their way, was the key to their success. While war is an extreme example, the essential message remains. Having a plan A and B is vital to your preparation for what is to come, but your ability to adapt and improvise is what will empower you to be victorious.
